Hug your financial advisor today! (or maybe just give them a call)
I consider myself one of the luckiest loan officers in the world when I think of the friends I have on the other side of the balance sheet. Starting my career in private banking and wealth management gave me lifelong mentors, colleagues and friends that I trust deeply.
In markets like this where there is tremendous fear I lean heavily on my financial planning friends. Honestly, I reach out to them to anchor my sanity. I practice what I preach, guys. When I say I give my clients the unemotional black and white side of the real estate transaction, I mean it. It is my job to present data, not fluff. Data based on real markets and real offerings. I am highly allergic to sales culture. It’s why I am writing this blog instead of making sales calls like I actually should be doing.
When feedback is given in the form of real data, it removes fear and emotion. It provides a place where you can make a rational plan for action (or inaction).
The professionals I’ve worked with in the past 25 years are among the smartest in the industry. Way smarter than I could ever wish to be. The cherry on top? They are also the most humble, down to earth humans. When I call, they ground me. We laugh. I feel better equipped to do my own job.
Do you have a relationship with someone like this? If you are relying on doom scrolling to make your biggest financial decisions on either side of the balance sheet (that’s assets vs. liabilities, folks!) PLEASE! Hard stop. Find an educated, experienced and humble financial professional. It will save you money and more importantly, mental anguish.
Happy Borrowing (and Investing!) xo
